Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Montgomery is a veteran human resources professional with more than 35 years of experience helping clients find success through innovative human resources management. His broad range of experience across a variety of industries includes 18 years with the largest inland marine operator in the country, as well as working in state government, agriculture, public and private institutional settings, banking and telecommunications. He has also been a small business consultant and trainer and has owned several small businesses. Tom brings a visionary approach to human resources management and has helped numerous companies reap long-term rewards through his creative approach to HR. Tom holds a doctorate in business administration from Argosy University Chicago, a master’s degree in organizational communication, and bachelor’s degrees in psychology and criminal justice from Murray State University.
Matthew Montgomery is a seasoned small business owner with more than 20 years of business management experience in the retail and consumer goods sectors. He has a diverse range of human resources knowledge which includes operations management, training and development, audit management, customer service, payroll, and recruiting. As both a General Manager and small business owner, Matt brings a unique perspective to the Heartland HR team through his ability to relate to the clients’ daily operational needs and challenges. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Louisville.
Chief Operations Officer
Cheri Carley has more then 20 years of experience aligning human capital with organizational strategies and goals. She is knowledgeable in an array of HR best practices as they relate to strategic planning, employee engagement and retention, recruiting, compensation and benefits planning, policy development and implementation, performance management systems and HRIS. Through her value-based approach, Cheri is an expert at minimizing disruptions in productivity while implementing personalized HR solutions. Her broad range of experience includes HR leadership in marine transportation, distribution, higher education, communications, event services, and information technology industries. Cheri has an undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies and an MBA from Belmont University.
Director of Operations
Vicki Morgan brings more than 20 years of human resources leadership to the management team at Heartland HR. Her experience spans a number of industries including staffing, manufacturing, distribution and marine transportation. With her extensive experience in employee relations, recruiting, payroll, benefits, project management, unemployment, risk management, training and development and HR administration, Vicki brings a practical approach to human resources management that closely aligns with clients’ day-to-day operations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tuskegee University and earned her current SPHR certification.
Human Resource Business Partner
Brittany Redd brings five years of human resources experience in recruiting to the Heartland HR team. As an entrepreneur herself, Brittany brings a fresh and insightful approach to the team at Heartland HR. The most rewarding part of being a Senior HR Business Partner for Brittany is helping companies gain results through a proactive approach to human resources. Brittany holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a master’s degree in human resource management from Murray State University.

With 10 years of HR experience, Mandee Huyck brings a wealth of knowledge to the Heartland HR team. Mandee brings a seasoned, common sense approach to recruiting and staffing, human resources information systems, and customer service. She is a valued partner to our clients especially in determining their specific HR needs and providing the highest quality solutions delivered with exceptional customer service and professional expertise. She holds a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Murray State University.
